I went in cookout in Danville va and the service was very poor. The 2 cashiers were very unpleasant. The expression on their face is like they don’t like to see people going into this place. The cashier is rushing me to take my order. My burger is burnt. I’m not coming back to this place anymore. With me and my husband and our 4 kids this was a horrible experience for all of us. Visit date August 11th 2013. 5:20 pm
We stopped at the Cook Out in Oxford, NC (I-85, exit 204) yesterday and were disappointed. It took 20 minutes to get a milk shake and during that time we got to enjoy their collection of house flies. The men’s room was dirty, wet and dry paper towels on the floor along with flying insects in their too. We won’t be going back. However the one they have on Cherry Rd. in Rock Hill, SC was very good. Speedy service and no flies!
I love cookout. The only thing is the anoying college guy that wouldnt take mine and my husbands order because he wanted to take the order of the 2, not so pretty, girls behind us. Seriously, get over it. They were obviously not interested in you and your flirting. He just said “uh, she will take your order” and pointed behind us to the girls. How lame!
2 words…GIFT CARDS!
I have always loved Cookout and my kids absolutely love the food, however there are a lot of times where they would rather go somewhere else only because Cookout does not give kids toys because they do not have kids meals. I think that if you all add kids meals to your meny that more families would come because the kids would get a toy.
How about allergen and nutrition info? Get with the program.
The shakes are great, however the food isn’t . The pull pork BBQ looks like cat food
Will not be coming back to cookout anymore. I have went twice and I am not waiting 20 to 30 minutes just to place my order. When you only have 1 or 2 people working the cash register. I don’t plan on going back to even try the food.
I went to the Cookout university area Charlotte NC. Was very disappointed. Got a BBQ sandwich and there was maybe a half teaspoon of slaw on it if that. I had got it and took it back to work so couldn’t go back. Be sure and check your order before leaving
So frustrated got home with my cookout tray and food was wrong, drive back to cookout, when I got back home food was still wrong, come on get my order right
The Cook-out in Carolina Forest / Conway is just Awesome! My family and I eat there at least twice a week. More food for the price than any other fast food chain there is. Keep up the great work.
I went to the cookout on cliffsdale rd today I received terrible service as usual. I was telling the person my order and advancing what I didn’t want in my sandwich, but she was so busy asking my sides before allowing me to tell her what I didn’t want. This wouldn’t be a problem if I had not be there before told them what I didn’t want was bring rushed again and my order was wrong. When I got to the window I wasn’t greeted and I had to ask for my receipt. I wasn’t thanked for my business .. Please advice your cashiers to give the customers a chance to speak instead of trying to rush them.
I tried cook out for the first time ever tonight. Went to the one in shelby Nc. Drive through guy was super friendly and helped me with my order. Food was great, milkshake was even better. I will soooooo be going back!
We go to Cookout often in Knoxville – my 6 kids love it (and they have NEVER commented on not getting the “toys” that other places have – DON’T GO THERE!). Generally, we have great experiences there. Yesterday was different. Lousy service, poorly fulfilled order, rude cashier.
Just goes to show that even the best places have off nights and employees. I plan on calling corporate today about the experience.
Very disappointed with the milkshakes!! What happened? You made them smaller and the ice cream is like flavored foam now. Typical changes….. Sell a great product then lessen the quality. You lost four customers today.
My fiance and I like the 2 Cookouts in Knoxville. However, I would love to have the nutritional information. Also, if you didn’t have bread on a sandwich how many calories it would be, ect. I can’t eat somewhere that I don’t know the nutritional values anymore. So, until you get that part of your site complete I will be taking money else where.
Stopped at the Indian Trail, NC store on my way home to get the chicken quesadilla tray for my daughter. She adores them and even wrote a song about them. Anyway, got home and found that they had failed to put any chicken on the chicken quesadilla leaving her heart broken and in morning. Will not be stopping at that location again. Hoping the Spell is broken.
Just visited Morristown, Tn. Location. Great food, service, prices and atmosphere! What a joyful experience. Thanks for a truly quality place to eat.
Went to the cookout in colonial heights va around 12am midnight on a Saturday, it was extremely busy and even tho I had to wait for my food service was pleasant and speedy. There were a lot of boisterous colllege students making rude statements and rukus but the workers were still nice and well mannered. I give my props and thanks to such good service. Food was great.
Went to the Newport News, VA store about 5:00 PM on 9/12/13. Ordered 4 items in the drive thru and kept having to repeat my order because the speaker was so low, I could barely hear the person taking the order. Got my order and took it home only to find that they left out part of my order.
At that time, I started looking all over the internet for the local store number in order to speak to the manager but later realized that the only number available was the corporate office number. The lady I spoke to said she would send coupons to compensate me for what was left out and I told her I wanted my money back. She said she would have to give me yet another number to another office….I got very angry and told her to send the coupons as well as told her that would be the VERY LAST TIME I would go to their restaurant because in the short time since they opened, their quality has gone downhill significantly. I’m not sure if it is just incompetent staff or if it is a management issue. Either way Cook Out has lost my family’s business for good due to poor quality control and poor customer service.
I go to the Blacksburg VA location often. The service is awful. We have to repeat our order at least 3 times and they still screw it up. The past 3 times they haven’t managed to remember the BBQ sauce I repeatedly asked for. I hate mayo, yet it is always slathered all over my food no matter how many times I ask for it to be left off. The only redeeming quality about your restaurant is the milkshakes. If there were any other place to get milkshakes nearby, we would never visit the establishment.
Me and my family ate at the Cook-out in Denver NC and we loved the service and the food the price was great also all four of us ate for less than 15 dollars. The restaurant is clean and the mgr came bye and asked how everything was. We will be coming back again.
just tried the one in Augusta GA and it was fantastic!!! will def visit again, after the crowds die down (just opened). nice addition to the medical district. had the grilled sandwich and it was awesome.
I love Cookout and would love for there to be one closer to me in Alexander county. I think a Cookout would do well there because it’s not to expensive and there are no other competitive restaurants that serve GREAT milkshakes. A Cookout could possibilly have amazing opportunitys in Alexander County. Many people love cookout and would go much more if it was convenient for them by being closer. Please consider a Cookout in Alexander county!
I am normally a fan of Cookout, but today was a huge disappointment. After waiting 15 minutes just to order, the cashier didn’t apologize for my wait or even acknowledge it. Among the items I ordered was a chicken quesadilla. I got home and there was NO chicken on it! Really Cookout? You guys can do better.
If you like greasy fast food cheap with no taste except for the salt, then this place is for you. If you want to provide your family with all the artery clogging goodness that a tub of lard would provide, then by all means, give them your money. The onion rings are the frozen type you would recognize at any place not concerned with providing a quality product which is fine since I only got 4, and the slaw is minced cabbage with a flat tasteless dressing that may have been mayo at some point. The burger and toppings were glued together with a slice of what appeared to be American cheese. The tomato was a thick slab that slid out of the side of the white bread bun and made it a juggling act to eat. I think I had better food in the junior high cafeteria. I guess you can make a go of it if you find a region of the country where the people have no taste and are clearly proud of it.
My family and I love the Cookout. And when we wanna a fastfood joint we would rather come to the Cookout than anyother place. The one here in Newport News, VA is amazing!!! **Love it **
Stoped in at Cook Out on Kingston Pike in Knoxville, Tennessee for lunch (Order number 1122) and had an excellent burger, Fries, and a Diet Coke. All went well until I drank the diet coke, took off the lid and found a black spyder in the ice. Not a good inducement to return!
Very glad you opened one in Augusta. The food is good, and I hope it stays that way!
The last two meals I have purchased at the Cook Out in Johnson City, TN have been wrong. I order a regular cheeseburger with mustard, mayo, ketchup, tomato, pickles. Each time, there were no tomatoes on the burger even though I was charged extra. This time, there was also no ketchup. The receipt has been correct but the burger I received was not. I order my food to go since I am on a lunch break. I have no time to go back and stand in line again to have my order corrected. Cook Out has good food, but I see no reason to continue to eat there if my order will be wrong each time. At work, I am in charge of ordering lunches for our office. We have used Cook Out many times. I don’t think we will again.
Me and my husband went to cookout on military highway in Norfolk va and we always go here because they are nice, but when we went we got passed on to three different people for a drive threw order. They were all rude and talking to themselves and laughing. We pay and the lady snatches the card out of my hand andcontinues to laugh with her coworkers. Throws us our drinks and food. Our food wasn’t in a bag, no thank you for coming or have nice day. What’s going on
Maybe another possible location at 5900 Duraleigh Rd Raleigh, NC 27613. Empty Building .
Visited cookout Sat September 28th.. Line was extremely long and very slow (poor drive thru design) but food was great. And employees friendly! Welcome to Augusta!
You would think if you were doing a business that stayed open all night and had loud obnoxious people outside, you would not locate next to a hotel. I guess the thinking part wasn’t part of the plan.
We went to the Conway, SC Cookout today and are very disappointed with our service today. We place our order through the drive through. In the middle of placing our order we were asked to wait a minute and then had to repeat what we just ordered. Normally when we finish our order they read the order back to us but today they did not. Once we got home we found out that our order had been messed up. We ordered 2 orders of chicken nuggets and only got 1 order. We also ordered 2 Ice Teas and got 1 Ice Tea and 1 Coke which is an inconvenience since we do not drink soda. Normally I wouldn’t complain but when one of my kids didn’t get their food because the person taking the order was not giving us their full attention and did not confirm the order I felt the need to complain. I hope that now this location is not going to start going down hill with service as we have never had an issue until now.

Have to let your upper management know about the new store you just opened in Pineville, NC. I ordered the plate/tray with a double order of french fries. It was the same amount of fries that I had ordered the prior day but that order was a single order. I pointed this out to the employee at the window, she said ok, and another employee who was rude said that was the normal amount but took my tray back thru the drive in window. Another employee who was rude said that I was lucky yesterday – that I probably received a double order then. He stated that “This is the correct amount of fries” in a very NON CUSTOMER oriented superior attitude. You need to have some customer service lessons with your team at the Pineville, NC store – especially it being new. It was just french fries – why could they just have given another serving (right or wrong)? I guess the customer is not always right at your store……
I visited the cookout restaurant on Highway 42 in Garner on Friday Sept 27 around 4:30-5:00 pm.
I was on my way out of town so I stopped there to purchase a burger. I ordered a burger , fries and a drink then I realized I could get a tray for the same amt or less. So I then told the guy I wanted the tray and I wanted the fooltong.. Thninking I was going to get the hotdog and cheeseburger and some fries. I wasn’t sure what came in the the tray. I get to the window and I asked the guy what did he give me and he said double fries and a footlong . That is not what I wanted, I wanted the cheeseburger, how am I suppose to eat a footlong hotdog and drive and there is no way I would eat double fries. I was truly disappointed and feel I wasted $6.00. I am not a satisfied customer and will not be visiting this location again. I was disappointed that he did not get clarity
or repeat my order back to me.
Not a happy customer
Ate at the new one in Athens, Georgia yesterday. I had the BBQ plate and the pork was the consistency of baby food; rather disgusting. The Cole slaw was so dry it was inedible and the hush puppies were overcooked. No extra BBQ sauce was available (??) and the ketchup was served in packets (which I feel should be reserved for drive-through windows). Overall not impressed.
The last three times I have gone to Cookout in Danville, VA, they have messed up my order. I typically go to Cookout 2-3 times per week, either alone or with my family. We rarely eat on premises, but get our food “to go”. Two times ago, they messed up my order (I forget the specifics now). The last time, I paid extra for a particular side and I was given one of the normal sides instead. I didn’t bring either of these situations up, but just accepted them as “everyone makes mistakes”. Tonight, they charged me for something that I didn’t order, but I caught it before I left the store and I was refunded the charged amoutn (not the tax on it however). The server checked my meal before handing it to me and said they got it right. I returned home to find that they had not even given me one of my sides. I received a hamburger and one side. Three strikes – your out!
Cookout is great ! Good food good service and great prices!
The food is great; going to Cook Out at Military Highway in Norfolk has become a weekly ritual for my family. I have turned my parents onto it as well, and they are eagerly awaiting a store opening in Virginia Beach. Any idea when that might be?
The one complaint I have is that it’s very rare indeed when the staff reads the special instructions on the order ticket. When I order a BBQ sandwich with slaw but NO Texas Pete, it’s always (100% of the time) served to me with Texas Pete, no matter how explicit and emphatic my instructions are (the special instructions are on the ticket, just not on my food). It can be frustrating when sometimes you bring the food home and discover the error, and just as frustrating when dining in always to have to get it remade properly.
This is a management opportunity — a teaching opportunity — as they are ultimately responsible to ensure that all staff is adequately trained. Please see to it that this is done. It’s the little things that make a good fast food joint become a great one.
We’ve eaten at Cook-Outs before & love them! Great food at good prices. However the Maryville,TN location we stopped at today while visiting family was an unpleasant experience. The cashier was rude while taking our order & slung our food to us. Then the food was not up to the standard we have had at other locations. We have learned our lesson & just won’t stop at that there on future visits!
Stopped by cookout in Blacksburg, usually great but this time I didn’t get everything I was charged for. I ordered 2 trays through the drive thru and when we got home 1 tray was missing all the sides we were charged. I have had pretty good experiences everytime aside from this. Had to deal with a very disappointing dinner =/
I’ve been twice with my boyfriend. First time was great. Quick service, good food, great price. Second time was terrible. Something seemed to be wrong with the ice cream machine, so our milkshake took about 10 minutes longer than our burgers (we were at the drive thru, so that’s kind of a long wait…). MWe (unfortunately) did not look at our burgers until we got home. Mine was fine, but his (a big double steak style) was neither steak style nor big. The two patties on his burger were smaller than the one on mine, and it was a regular burger without any of the extra toppings he’d ordered or paid for. We will not be going back.
Just got back and they got my order wrong again! It was the Huntersville NC location.
I love Cook-Out, however, my last three experiences have been horrible. The food itself hasn’t changed in quality, but the staff/service leaves much to be desired. It may be one particular cashier (young, white girl), but it’s enough to keep myself and my coworkers from going back. She always has a bit of an attitude and gets impatient when I ask to have a second to look at their menu. She also slams the window before letting me or anyone else ask for ketchup/mayo/mustard/etc. Overall, the food is good, but their staff ruins the dining experience.
Me and my husband just tried the new Cook Out right behind our house in Chesapeake and it was….excellent!!! We are from East Texas and have tried some good burgers but this is by far the best I have had in awhile. 10 out of 10!! And for an amazing price. We couldn’t find anything wrong with anything. Huge tea was great with shredded ice, my regular burger was the best burger I’ve ever ever had and my husband had the big double with bacon smothered with onions with french fries and chicken nuggets. I would DEFINITELY recommend this place. I’ll be going back very soon.
I usually enjoy going to Cook Out but my recent experiences have made me pick other places instead. The people in there lately have been nothing but rude and clearly not paying attention to what they’re doing. Today I went through the drive through and from the beginning I was not having this guys attitude, it was terrible. Then I received my order and there was melted cheese on the outside and all over the inside. Btw- nothing in my order had cheese on it. I do not like cheese so having stuck my hand in this quite frankly grossed me out. If I wasn’t in a hurry I would have taken it right back.
I live in Sarasota , Florida .I think y’all should open up a cookout here in Sarasota, florida ..It will be a big hit, everyone will love it
I have been to two different locations of the cookout in the Hampton Roads area. The food has been good. The first location my mom ordered soda and had to throw it out because it didn’t taste right and ended up getting sick from drinking it. The service has been horrible at both locations…and that has ruined me being a future costumer. Also, the second location has rude customers which wouldn’t give us time to look at the drive thru menu before going to the ordering screen to then have a rude MANAGER. Tonight I repeated my order not once BUT five times & they still didn’t get it right. Dear Cookout CEO get your cookouts better equipment & maybe look at who you hire.
