I had a very unpleasant experience at the location on Harden St in Columbia, SC. I had to go through the drive thru twice to get my order. I ordered a 1/4 hamburger, steak style, with cheese and 3-4 other items. The first trip through the drive thru, I did not get the hamburger, had to go back through the drive thru and reorder. I told the order taker no less than four times how to prepare the burger (steak style with cheese, remember?) I get home and realize all I got was a plain hamburger with everything EXCEPT the A-1 steak sauce and cheese, for which I was charged an extra $1.09. I am sick and tired of getting terrible service at almost every fast food restaurant I go to, with the exception of Chick-Fil-A. Other restaurants could take lessons from them on proper customer service. Is there a special way I need to order the hamburger in order to get the right one?? I speak very clear English, so there is no excuse for inattentive service and receiving incorrect orders. Train your people properly and fix the problem. VERY DISAPPOINTED!
CRAP FOOD CRAP SERVICE WORST EXPERIECE OF MY LIFE,i regret going there
good idea, cheap food; have been to the Charlottesville, VA location many times; have yet to get correct order, BBQ sandwich became a double cheeseburger by the time I got it home etc.,;
today saw only 3 people “working”; no one in dining room, trash on floor and all over parking lot; no toilet paper in womens bathroom stall; cashier trying to do it all and not at all happy about it
tighten up or you won’t be here for long; many, many restaurants in C-ville to choose from
This is the second time this month I’ve gone through the Blackaburg drive-thru, ordered Cajun fries with my tray, had the receipt on top of my tray say Cajun fries…. Yet when I open my tray (after I leave the parking lot of course) I find fries with no Cajun style seasoning I love cookout and their food but twice now? Come on… There must be someone new or something.
So i have been eating at cook out for a while now. I really enjoy the price and the food. But I never cared much for the customer service esspecially in the drive thru. I eat here more often than i should, but the last two times i have been my order has been wrong where it was never wrong before. And that was only 2 days apart. So i try to call the store to show my concerns and complain, but i can’t get anyone to answer the phone. It just rings and rings. I have called twice today and the phone rang more than 10 times each. Cook Out your loosing me.
The cookout in Hickory NC 127 is great don’t get me wrong, but I like the fact that I can get coleslaw @ a fastfood restraunt. Its good and it has less calories. So with that being said, I get it about everytime I go there. One thing that pisses me off more than anything is NO ONE and I MEAN NO ONE can manage to give me a flippin fork to eat it with! I mean what do they expect me to do use my fingers or tongue it out of the flippin cup! 99% of the time they can not manage to give me one to eat it with. If it wasn’t the only one near me I’d quit going, but they tend to get a cussing from me every time and STILL don’t manage to get it right. Someone there needs to get it together and soon!
I had yet another awful experience at the cookout in Maryville, TN. The girl who took my order was exceptionally rude and cut me off several times. Then ONCE AGAIN there was no BBQ sauce on my freaking BBQ style sandwich and on top of that even though the sides were clearly listed on my receipt they were both wrong. Of course I didn’t figure any of that out until I was already home. SO thank again cookout of Maryville , TN for the terrible service and terrible food.
I have gone several times to the cook out location in Knoxville tn off Kingston pike and every.time have gone always pleased Sith burger but they always mess foodup with when we ask for extra fries we don’t even get enough to be considered good portion anen get charged for extra is crap. I am sorry but if something ndoes not change I will not be going back ever again really upset.
I just went to the one in Portsmouth va and the woman was probably the rudest person I’ve ever met. The employees were so loud I couldn’t hear her and in turn she caught an attitude with me and even rolled her eyes at me when I got to the window. Someone needs to seriously fix who’s working at that location.
I see all of these people complaining on the internet about their service. did you guys do cookout a favor and tell the manager of the location you are dissatisfied with. they cant fix the problem areas 2,3,10 days later.
Cook out in Salisbury, NC Drive-thru cashier extremely rude! Closed door while I was talking several times . Threw my drink in my hand.. rolling ger eyes. She just looked real ghetto and no manners! Extremely Uncivilized.. Ordered hush puppies and she repeated my order but they did not charge or give them to me!! Not to mention there was a HAIR in my water. Haven’t even had it d or 30 seconds. Went to open it up for ice and saw it floating. Cook out has to be the WORST PLACE FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE I have ever been to!!
Visited the Bristol, Va location. Took 30 minutes for 6 hamburgers, 5 fries, and 2 hot dogs for my family. They actually forgot the hot dogs and fries and that took 5 additional minutes on top of the original 30 minutes. I asked to speak with the manager and was told they were not sure where he was. Someone finally came out and apologized but said the problem was most of his employees were new. I suggested he see to it that they were trained before putting them in front of customers. A young lady after me asked to speak to him and was holding a raw burger. I left there and drove thru Starbucks. After about a 3 minute wait in the drive thru, I pulled up to the employee handing me my coffee and apologizing for the wait. I said I didn’t realize it was really a delay but he gave me my coffee free anyway. I WILL visit that Starbucks again. Saw both sides of customers service tonight. One lost my business, the other will def see me again.
The cook out in Jacksonville nc on western blvd is the most awful place to eat, there are flys in the dinning room all over, the floors are so greasy that when I walked in the bathroom I almost feel, when I was at the counter ordering my food all I smelled was cigarette smoke and from what I thought there was no more smoking in public places, there is one girl there that did nothing but swear at the crew member and was very very rude, this place is nasty and I ended up leaving after seeing after seeing all of this, I have made phone calls to the BBB and the health department so they can look into these issues’ I really hope they do something about this. I will never go back again.
I had a horrible service at the Cookout in Augusta , GA. The person taking our order had horrible attitudes. They had hardly any people skills. They caught attitudes very quickly. Very unacceptable for a restaurant that is brand spanking new and is trying building a rep in the town. The only the great about my visit was the food!
But don’t get me wrong the Cookout on University Blvd. in Charleston was awesome and had great everything.
My past experiences with cookout haven’t been that great.I have had horrible with the one in Orangeburg, and Columbia at two notch. I was passing through Sumter the other day and decided to give cookout it’s last chance. Out stated off shakey until this young pretty girl named Sarah took over at the window and greeted me with a pleasant attitude and a welcoming smile. I’m not sure of this girls position, but whatever her status she needs to be rewarded for saving my opinion on this company. Many thanks to Sarah and her excellent service and staff at cookout in Sumter, SC.
I grew up in Greensboro, NC (where cookout started) and have lived there until 2008 when my wife and I moved to Virginia Beach,VA. We love cookout and would get it every time my wife and I went home. Finally cookout got closer and closer to home and now they are at Norfolk Norfolk Newport News Williamsburg Portsmouth Chesapeake but no Virginia Beach store. They would be an awesome hit at the beach. Why don’t they have a store? As my wife said it makes no darn sense. We want are trays and Fancy’s.
I just got lunch from the Harrisonburg VA CookOut & it was just sad – the burger took up about 1/2 the bun – I asked for mayo & lettuce on it – got a dot of mayo with 3 tiny pieces of lettuce – luckily when I got back to work to eat it I had something here to put on it. Like I said – just Sad…
Looks like The Cookouts upper management need to look into there sorry customer service. Just a suggestion
If I could ever get what I order it would be a miracle. Oh but they are sure to charge me for it. & Why don’t y’all hire workers with some life about them instead of zombies?
Xoxo. Asheville NC.
Went to Cook Out in Charleston, SC on Savannah Highway for the first time and the service was AWESOME. The gentleman at the drive-thru was incredibly friendly and sweet. It was the best drive-thru experience we’ve ever had. We will definitely be back and thank the staff for all their hard work.
I went to the cookout in southern pine, NC and I order a spicy chicken sandwich tray with hushpuppies and fries. I asked for only mayo pickle lettuce and cheese in my sandwich and very little ice in my drink. Now when I got my drink it had alot of ice in it but I did not complain I got my food and drove home when I look at my sandwich there were tomatoes on it and no mayo. I was not able to eat my sandwich since I am allergic to tomatoes. I was not goin to drive all the way back to southern pines speaking I live all the way in pinebluff I was very upset and this is not the first time cookout has done this.
Three times I have visited the Hershberger RD store in Roanoke VA, and three times when I got home our order was wrong. It is a shame that a restaurant that carries a decent product at a decent price can’t get an order correct. Needless to say I want what I pay for to be the way I want it. I think it is time to move on to somewhere that at least gets it right!
The cookout located at 1710 North Center St in Hickory NC sucks. Don’t get me wrong, I love cookout but when you mess up my order we have a problem. I ordered the hamburger cookout tray with cheese, ketchup, mustard and pickles and got none of that but the cheese. For the sides I asked for hushpuppies and nuggets, I got fries and nuggets instead. The girl at the window was rushing me like she had somewhere to be and didn’t answer my question correctly so I was pissed when I got home and found my order was incorrect. I understand that its fast food but they can get the order right by paying attention.
They have a location in Athens, GA and every time we go by there the place is packed to the hilt. We couldn’t in the parking lot even if we tried. They are currently building one in Milledgeville, GA and I sure hope the service and food at these 2 locations are better than what I have read on here. I can’t wait to try it for myself in Milledgeville.
My mom and I had the pleasure of eating twice at the Cook Out location in Albemarle, NC. The staff was helpful. The food was great. I had the Cook Out hot dog and it was just as I remembered growing up on NC with chili and slaw on my dog. We liked it so much we were sad to learn there was no location near our hometown. We think Cook Out is GREAT and can’t wait to go back!
I luv cookout in Harrisonburg va…but they changed the milkshake. ..more like McDonald’s now. Yuck. No more milkshakes for me but still luv cookout.
Just ate at the new Cookout in Athens,Ga. Food was great. Service very fast and courteous. Prices great. Dining room clean but very crowded with new customers. We really enjoyed the burgers.
Well from reading all of these comments, it’s seems that almost everyone was only using it to complain so i’m glad that I can give a very contrasting view than them and say that the newly opened Cookout in Statesboro,Ga is a HUGE hit, especially with the college students such as myself that go to GSU. I have been going almost every day to every other day for the past few months and my order has only been wrong ONCE. The customer service is GREAT and so is the food. I’m sorry for the people who have had a bad experience cause if supplied with a great staff, I am positive everyone would LOVE Cookout!
I normally receive great service from cookout, but I went there the other day to get a milkshake and I was quite disappointed. It was basically a smoothie, no thickness to it what so ever. Before I even got home, it was melted. This is the closest cookout near my school (Coastal Carolina) so I hope this doesn’t become a consistent thing.
I went to the cookout drivethru in Lexington, SC. Ordered the club style chicken sandwhich, onion rings and slaw. I literally got four rings and the slaw tasted like it wasn’t finished being made! The attendant forgot to give a fork for the slaw, no napkins or condiments. For $7 I can get more food and not wait 15 minutes in drivethru!
I went to the Cook Out in Radford Va. and let me just say they delivered on the hype. WHAT! WHAT!
Last time I was in the Farmville, VA location, I stood at the counter for at least 5 minutes while three employees stood over by the drive-thru window gossiping; even after they noticed me it took a minute or two for someone to come over and help me. Also, I have tried to call the store several times today and no one ever answered; if you aren’t going to answer the phone, what is the point of having one?
We went to the brand new opening at the New Bern, NC location. it SUCKED. We threw away over 3/4 of our meals. We ordered and waited an eternity then finally went up to ask about the food. They went to the back and got it and basically I wish it was still kn the kitchen. We both ordered the BBQ pulled pork plate. I have fed my cats food that looked more appetizing. Well, we kept an open mind and took a bite. All I could taste was vinegar. There wasa no BBQ in it. The texture was creepy mushy and it was the oddest and one of the nastiest things I have eaten. I went and asked for 4 BBQ sauces, 2 for each of us. There was a girl in training and she placed 4 on the counter, and then the one who was her trainer, quickly took 2 away and gently pushed the other 2 and said “have a nice evening ma’am”. So I told her I needed 2 more (now mind you, these are aboutba teaspoon each) and she repeated that I needed 2 more and she was so snotty I told her the food was nasty and absolutely awfuland I really would appreciate BBQ in the BBQ plate I ordered. Corporate office was snotty and condescending.
I went to Cookout in Kernersville, NC like I always do after a Hockey game and may not anymore after this experience. I ordered my usual, Spicy Chicken Tray, only Mayonnaise, Chicken Nuggets, and a Chicken quesadilla. As I was driving home, I was reaching in my tray, realized there was something unusual. I got a Footlong hotdog instead of a Spicy Chicken sandwich. I immediately turn around and head back. I let them know and all seems to be good, this time I get home only to find out that the amazingly fast Spicy Chicken sandwich that was cooked was just a grilled chicken sandwich. Not that there was nothing wrong with it, it is just disappointing that a crew can mess up an order two times back to back after repeated back to them. I will be contacting whatever corporate I can find on this.
I go to the Cookout on Creek Ridge Road in Greensboro and while the food is always exceptionally good the customer service is more than likely awful. The girl that work the front window and drive through seem annoyed when you walk up or drive through and even more annoyed with customer orders. I go there because the food tastes good but I don’t like feeling as if I am a burden because I want tomatoes on my hot dog. However, on the opposite end, the customer service at the Cookout in Kernersville, NC is wonderful! The people are always happy you came in and the service is fast and accurate!
Eden NC location: Food is good but customer service terrible… Nov. 22 went to drive thru ordered a tray and young man did not wait for me to finish my order. Next thing I know a young lady with a bad attitude is on speaker saying “maam you said that was the end of your order now what else do you want?” Went to pck up window and the young lady never made eye contact with me once. I told her to give me ranch dressing with chicken strips and she never answered me, just gave me my order without saying anything….Was real excited that Cook Out was in Eden but this pretty much changed my mind.
Great food at the Mt airy NC location
Every time I go to cookout, I get HORRIBLE customer service. Nine times out of ten, something is wrong with my order. The price is perfect and the food is delicious, but the folks hired to “work” there are absolutely horrible.
I have been to the new one in Augusta, Ga twice. The customer service is excellent & the food as well. I was amazed at the cheap prices for excellent food..will definitely frequent. Thanks!!
I went to the cookout in hickory north Carolina this evening to get two Oreo milkshakes. I asked for EXTRA oreos when I ordered them because I knew how stingy they are with them. When I got home there was about two oreos placed right on the top and there wasn’t any beyond that point. It was like this in both of them. Needless to say me or my mother didnt eat them. If I wanted a vanilla milkshake I would have just had some plain ice cream out of the freezer. I tried calling them to address the problem seeing as though I wasted time money and gas but there was no answer. Go figure.
On April 27, 2014 08:40 P.M., my wife received the most disgusting form of customer service through the Cook Out drive thru located at 11000 U.S. 15 28387, Southern Pines, NC 28387 (910-692-2668). My wife is a naturalized U.S. Citizen of two years, speaks three languages fluently and is college educated. Never in her six years of residing in the U.S. has she ever experience a blatant display of racism and misconduct from a fast food chain employee. Her accent was ridiculed by the employee working at the drive thru as she attempted to order three Cook Out trays. The disrespectful employee lacked tactful resolution skills and was sharing her enjoyment of frustrating my wife with her fellow employees as they laughed in the background in two separate occasions. It was not only after the second occasion that the Manager finally intervened and tried to remedy the situation. By that time my wife was already upset to the point of tears and just wanted to leave the area after receiving the wrong order. When I reunited with my wife, she notified me of the event and I immediately returned the order to the Cook Out location. I respectfully requested to speak to the manager (Mr. Keith Rigby) and asked for an explanation for the racially motivated mistreatment that my wife received moments ago. There was no laughter exhibited by any employee during this event. I asked if my accent could be understood and I demanded a refund for wrong order given to us, along with point of contact information for a regional supervisor. I was given a cup with the “Satisfaction Guaranteed” phone number (866) 547-0011 along with an unsatisfactory explanation (or excuse) of the event that occurred.
It is my intent to report this event to the Corporate office (Morris & Jeremy Reaves / Corporate: (336) 431-1094). The cup also says “God Bless America” and “Psalm 118:24″ (This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it). But in the case of this immature racially insensitive employee, America can be blessed by God for only those who do not speak with a foreign accent and you can rejoice and be glad for the day the Lord made only if you were born in the U.S. As a 21 year Military Veteran and Native Texan, it’s disappointing to see this type of unprofessional behavior being displayed towards my wife during this time and age. My wife has ordered food and received exemplary service from the same Cook Out location closest to our home near Fayetteville multiple times with no problems dealing with her “accent”. I hope higher management takes the appropriate action against this employee in order to prevent any additional incidents like this from occurring in the future and my wife at least deserves an official apology from the management or a sincere face-to-face apology from the employee in question.
Went through Oxford Nc Cookout and the food was scrumptious those onions rings were very tasty very hotttttt ticket number 1469
Usually love cookout, but have had multiple bad experiences at the one in Durham off Miami blvd. The guy takin orders was rude, and I got a cheeseburger with multiple hard chunks in it?? Maybe fat or something, but very gross. I don’t like not being sure the food I will order is edible. I usually don’t leave bad reviews but bad service and bad food means I won’t be wasting my money again.
I ate at the one in Statesboro, Georgia and it was awesome, loved it very much. Can’t wait until the one in Pooler, Georgia opens, will be closer to me. Very clean and nice place and people working there were pleasant and fast with your order
Loved the service and the foot was excellent. Fast and very good atmosphere. Ate at one in Statesboro, Ga.
Waiting for one in pooler, georgia to open.
We tried Cookout as a trial of the new kid on the block, and the Midlothian Turnpike location in N. Chesterfield(Richmond, VA) was far above normal “fast food” As a native Tarheel, it was so wonderful to have an authentic N.C BBQ on a bun, with not-too-sweet coleslaw and Texas Pete. ( that was me, Candy) Dave also enjoyed the BBQ plate , a less spicy version; and Rachael had a burger, and chicken sandwich – all awesome and an amazing price.Fast ,friendly service. We returned 2 weeks later and added to our choices with fries and hushpuppies, pleasantly cooked, not greasy. We ate outside on the tables on a perfectly warm Spring evening. The place was rocking busy, and we could see why. A definite new fav, so glad it is close by.
So, just a little insight since I managed several Cookouts for over 3 years. First, the food is horrible. Everything is prepackaged including the cheddar cheese sauce, the BBQ, etc. Most of the product is straight from the US Foods Catalog. The beef used in the hamburgers is delivered fresh everyday, but this again is straight from US Foods. The family that owns the business is trying to open as many stores as possible. They pull all the best people from different stores(usually young kids), put them up in hotels for a couple of months and WOW the new store customers. After the honeymoon is over what your left with is a bunch of untrained kids working for min. wage. Turnover is above 99% for employees because there is no structure or follow through with management to conduct performance appraisals, and therefore award raises for those persons that are worth it. Upper Management never follows through with any type of performance appraisals for employees or management. They lure people into management with several unattainable bonus structures and in the event you do hit a bonus it’s like pulling teeth to get the money. I hit two bonus incentives and had to make multiple phone calls to upper management trying to get my money. Upper management consists of the son of the owner and 3 minions who call themselves human resources. Horrible operation and horrible food.
Today I visit one of your locations for the first time and was very disappointed with the service received. When I received my order the lady stuck the box out of the window and I asked if I could have a bag. She said “you want a bag” I said yes she reach somewhere to the side and pass me a balled up bag still basically balled up in her hand. I was just too shock to say anything to her so taken aback I started to drive off without my change. I remember saying out loud I can’t believe she gave me a used bag it even felt damp. She called out “did you want your change. I was still close enough to just reach back and get it.
I started to just dismiss this but I thought I am going to call the store and make them aware to prevent this in the future. Who wants to put food they are going to eat in something that appears to be unclean. When I call the number listed I got a fax tone. I call back later same thing.
I thought about it and then I decide to call the number on the cup. I got someone but I felt there was no concern not even an apology for what took place.
I have worked in the public and I don’t feel that this is good customer service. I may go back to the stores I know as long as I don’t get this type of treatment but Cookout has proven to not be the cook out I first visited.
The store I visited was in Chesapeake, VA on Battlefield Blvd @12:20 order #1078.
I want to see the calorie contents please.
Concord Pkwy, Concord NC.
I wasn’t surprised to see so many comments already on here expressing my same opinion. Love the food! BEST PRICES IS THE REASON I RARELY GO TO THE OTHER FAST FOODS.
– when they switch people in the middle of my ordering! Suddenly a different voice to whom I have to repeat everything I’ve said!
- having my food thrusted thru the window and shut before I can say anything. If it keeps happening, they’re gonna have messes to clean up!!!
- getting my chili served only half full.
You need more ADULTS working for you….not immature kids. Tell your managers to RETRAIN and watch the cashiers/servers. One warning to them about treating customers right. Then, termination. Cut the tolerance!
Or maybe secret shoppers would be a good idea. Hire ME!
